Composer In Association

Claudia Molitor is currently the CSO's Composer In Association, as part of Making Music's Adopt-a-Composer scheme. Claudia is composing a new piece specially for the CSO, the world premiere of which will take place in Southampton Guildhall in November 2007. We plan to hold a number of orchestral workshops during the year, during which the composition will evolve towards its final performed version.

Claudia Molitor

Claudia is a composer who is gaining national recognition. She was born in Germany in 1974 and studied Music and Media at Sussex University, went on to do an MA in Music at City University and completed her PhD in Composition with Michael Finnissy in 2004.

In March 2006 Oh Du Kleines Kabinett, commissioned by Queens' College Cambridge, was premiered by Anton Lukoszevieze and musicians of Queens' college. Her piano piece, Tango, was short-listed by spnm in 2004-5 and was performed by Rolf Hind at the new music festival fuseleeds06.

The Norwegian accordionist Frode Haltli performed Even if the world is infinitely complex as part of spnm's HINDSIGHT series at Wapping Hydraulic Power Station in London last April. Who kissed my head?, Claudia's first piece using live electronics was performed by players from the London Sinfonietta in collaboration with Sound Intermedia this May.

The CSO are very excited to have been chosen to take part in this year's Adopt-a-Composer scheme, and look forward to working with Claudia during 2007.
