Joining Our Orchestra
We always welcome enquiries from new players, so if you live in the Southampton area and are free on Tuesday evenings, read on.
The City of Southampton Orchestra is an enthusiastic amateur orchestra. We give five Saturday evening concerts per year in a variety of venues around the Southampton area. There are generally between five and seven rehearsals before each concert, plus a rehearsal on the Saturday afternoon before the concert.
We rehearse weekly on Tuesdays from 7:15pm – 9:45pm. Rehearsals are currently held at the Cantell School in Southampton.
Like most orchestras, we have more vacancies in some sections of the orchestra than others. Currently we are particularly seeking string players, but we welcome applications on all instruments. If there is not currently a vacancy for your instrument we will keep your details on file, and may ask you to act as a stand-in or extra for a rehearsal or concert. This is a good way for us to get to know you informally.

Joining as a volunteer member
We welcome enquiries from new volunteers who are able to offer us non-performing support so that we can get on with the business of playing the music! If you are able to offer a couple of hours from time to time please complete the application form below.
