We always welcome enquiries from new players, so if you live in the Southampton area and are free on Tuesday evenings, read on.

 

The City of Southampton Orchestra is an enthusiastic and friendly amateur orchestra. We work with professional conductors and soloists to perform challenging repertoire to a high standard.

We rehearse weekly on Tuesdays from 7:15pm – 9:45pm. Rehearsals are currently held at Richard Taunton Sixth Form College in Southampton. We always have a break halfway through the rehearsal for a cuppa and chat.  Rehearsals run from September through to July - we have a week off at Christmas and Easter and then have no rehearsals over the summer break.

Like most orchestras, we have more vacancies in some sections of the orchestra than others, but we welcome enquiries from players of all instruments. If we don't currently have a vacancy for your instrument we will keep your details on file, and do our best to invite you to act as a stand-in or extra for a rehearsal or concert. This is a great way for you to get to know us informally.
