Violin vacancies

The CSO has a truly exciting concert on July the 6th in Romsey Abbey - Amy Beach Gaelic Symphony and Schubert Symphony 9 “The Great”. But we need more violins! If you know someone who would like to play, or you would like to play yourself, please get in touch (needs to be strong current Grade 8 standard). Students over the age of 18 welcome also.

We always welcome enquiries from new players, so if you live in the Southampton area and are free on Tuesday evenings, read on.

The City of Southampton Orchestra is an enthusiastic and friendly amateur orchestra. We work with professional conductors and soloists to perform challenging repertoire to a high standard.

We rehearse weekly on Tuesdays from 7:15pm – 9:45pm. Rehearsals are currently held at Richard Taunton Sixth Form College in Southampton. We always have a break halfway through the rehearsal for a cuppa and chat.

Like most orchestras, we have more vacancies in some sections of the orchestra than others, but we welcome enquiries from players of all instruments. If we don't currently have a vacancy for your instrument we will keep your details on file, and do our best to invite you to act as a stand-in or extra for a rehearsal or concert. This is a great way for you to get to know us informally.
